The Company

Deriving its genesis from the French word meaning “storyteller”, Conteur is a newly formed Canadian professional dance company that incorporates modern contemporary movement to express ideas and commentaries on the human condition. Students of The Academy will have an opportunity to audition and become members of the Company, once the training program has been completed.

With annual performances, Conteur’s company will set the stage each season with a new production, crafted and created by Artistic Director, Eryn Waltman. Pushing the limits creatively, Conteur’s efforts to enlighten, inspire and entertain by exposing audiences to the beauty and intricacy of contemporary dance is the ultimate vision.

STATE OF MIND – November 2011

In November of 2011, Conteur mounted its inaugural company show, “State of Mind”, to a sold out house with an audience of over 1000. Choreographed by Artistic Director, Eryn Waltman, and produced by Dani Matte, “State of Mind” explored the sociological, psychological and physical influences that affect personality and human behaviour. Conteur’s journey to create “State of Mind” sparked a relationship with one of Canada’s most inspirational charities – THREE TO BE. Thus, in an effort to give back to the community, Conteur donated all proceeds from the show to THREE TO BE.

The Success of State of Mind was clear when a cheque was presented to THREE TO BE in an amount of almost $20,000.00.

In 2013, Conteur hopes to do it all over again, only bigger and better. We hope you will join us in this journey…
